Ava’s marriage to Peter was far from perfect. Although they had their ups and downs, she was committed to their relationship. However, everything changed when she discovered Peter was having an affair. One night, Peter returned home late, sweaty, and tired, claiming he had been at work. He used the money he stole from Ava to buy a new identity and start over, with his mother’s help. While Ava mourned his death, Peter had been living a new life.
Ava was overwhelmed with betrayal and anger. She yelled at Peter, who then became violent. Realizing that his secret was in danger of being exposed, Peter struck Ava on the head, knocking her unconscious. When she woke up, she found herself locked in a basement.
Ava’s cries for help went unheard. She begged Peter to release her, promising not to report him, but he didn’t trust her. After a few days, Martha visited the basement and offered Ava a deal: she could go free if she promised not to hurt Peter. Desperate to escape, Ava agreed.
Ava managed to start Peter’s car and tried to drive away, but she was too weak. She crashed into a tree and lost consciousness again. When she woke up, she was in a hospital bed with an officer waiting to question her. Thanks to the car’s license plates, the police had tracked down Peter.
The officer informed Ava that Peter, now living under a false identity, was under investigation. Martha was also being looked at as an accomplice. Ava provided her testimony, which was crucial in building a case against Peter.
Finally, Ava felt a sense of relief. She could now begin to rebuild her life, leaving the pain and betrayal behind.
