Ava’s marriage to Peter was far from perfect. Although they had their ups and downs, she was committed to their relationship. However, everything changed when she discovered Peter was having an affair. One night, Peter returned home late, sweaty, and tired, claiming he had been at work. Ava sensed something was wrong as he had been distant for weeks. Her suspicions grew stronger, and the next day, she decided to follow him.
Her heart raced as she tailed Peter to a house that wasn’t his office. She watched in horror as a woman greeted him with a hug at the door. Peter entered the house, and in that moment, Ava’s world shattered. Her husband was unfaithful, and the growing distance between them suddenly made sense.
Devastated, Ava confronted Peter when he came home later that night. She asked if he was having an affair, hoping for denial, but Peter admitted to it. He explained that what started as a one-night stand had turned into something more. He claimed he still loved Ava, but he also loved this other woman. Peter even blamed Ava for his affair, accusing her of being cold and unsupportive. His words cut deep, and Ava had had enough. She asked for a divorce, but Peter refused, becoming angry and threatening her.
The following morning, Peter was gone. All his belongings, including the money, jewelry, and passport from their safe, were missing. In a panic, Ava drove to Peter’s mother, Martha. Instead of sympathy, Martha blamed Ava for Peter’s disappearance, accusing her of driving him away with her demand for a divorce. Realizing she would get no help from Martha, Ava returned home, feeling more alone than ever.
Days passed with no word from Peter. His phone was off, and he didn’t respond to any of Ava’s messages. She began to lose hope of ever seeing him again and longed for closure. Then, one day, she saw a news report about a plane crash. To her horror, Peter and his lover were on the list of those who died. Just as she was trying to process the news, Martha showed up at her door, blaming her once again—this time for Peter’s death.
Two years later, Ava decided to take a trip to a nearby city for a fresh start. While grocery shopping, she noticed a man who looked strikingly like Peter. Her heart pounded as she called out his name. The man didn’t respond at first, but when he finally turned around, it was indeed Peter. Shocked, Ava demanded an explanation.
Peter begged her to get into his car, promising to explain everything. Reluctantly, she agreed. On the way to his new home, Peter revealed that he had indeed survived the plane crash, though his lover did not. He used the money he stole from Ava to buy a new identity and start over, with his mother’s help. While Ava mourned his death, Peter had been living a new life.
Ava was overwhelmed with betrayal and anger. She yelled at Peter, who then became violent. Realizing that his secret was in danger of being exposed, Peter struck Ava on the head, knocking her unconscious. When she woke up, she found herself locked in a basement.
Ava’s cries for help went unheard. She begged Peter to release her, promising not to report him, but he didn’t trust her. After a few days, Martha visited the basement and offered Ava a deal: she could go free if she promised not to hurt Peter. Desperate to escape, Ava agreed.
Ava managed to start Peter’s car and tried to drive away, but she was too weak. She crashed into a tree and lost consciousness again. When she woke up, she was in a hospital bed with an officer waiting to question her. Thanks to the car’s license plates, the police had tracked down Peter.
The officer informed Ava that Peter, now living under a false identity, was under investigation. Martha was also being looked at as an accomplice. Ava provided her testimony, which was crucial in building a case against Peter.
Finally, Ava felt a sense of relief. She could now begin to rebuild her life, leaving the pain and betrayal behind.
